Hi,

i have a HD5770 (powercolour) every now and then it randomly crashes and the screen will go blank with one colour (no consistant colour) or strips, sort of depends on what am viewing.

it has happened on both 2D and 3D apps. The sounds playing will also stall (like a broken record) from then on i cant do anything but force restart with the button...

i would post up my event viewer but i am in uni at the minute.

anybody else had this issue?

thanks

Sounds like a driver issue. Install the latest drivers (10.2 ) over your existing drivers, reboot see if that solves the problem. If it continues could be a hardware conflict or Psu or any number of things including faulty card. Try latest drivers and report back.:)

I have the same problem. I tried a new 6pin cable as someone said that in another forum, no diff.

Different DVI port, no diff.
HDMI? no diff.

I heard uninstalling the HDMI driver for sound fixes for some people, but mines the same.
Retesting with them drivers uninstalled and only DVI :)

++ That was a fail. Now testing with Catalyst CCC installed on DVI without sound. Testing on GTA IV now, and will report back ....

++That was a fail.
hasn't brown screened (touch wood) with all fresh driver installed and HDMI. Still no HDMI sound driver though.

thanks for the info... will test the card on a diffrent rig myself tomorrow (thurs) knowing the rig is totally stable now with a 8800gts.

thanks.

I had similar problem where my 5870 would crash when first running a game, but would be fine after restart.

I reflashed the bios using the very great guide that is stickied above and since then all has been fine.

Qudos to Martini1991 for a very easy to follow guide.:)

BTW, the actual flashing part is over in a flash, so dont be too worried about it. I was a wee bit spooked, but all was good when checking the info in CCC

I have fixed my problem. Turned off windows aero. Or at least its 'fancyness' :P

I know have the basic version on, and it all runs great :)
And yes, the awful light blue doe's look awful :P
