Graphics driver won't install.

Good morning guys.

I am trying to install some graphic drivers for a ATi 9200SE. It's for an old machine I have here, and it has no onboard.

So, I downloaded the 6.11's from the ATi website and tried to install them. It installs the Control panel, however when it gets to installing the display driver, I get an error message saying, "Registery editing has been disabled by your administrator".

Now, I am running Windows XP and I am on an Administrator account. So I don't see why it's giving me this error message now...


Anyone got any ideas on how to rectify this error?

I'm not familiar with your specific error message but a couple of things you could try/check are make sure the Fast User Switching service is running and perhaps try an older driver. The oldest I could find is v5.6 and it's available from Filehippo .

I found the error, it's a virus.

Got to figure out how to remove it now, without installing anything that edits reg..
