Hi all,

Following kind and helpful advice two weeks ago : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17996514

We made the purchase and the package arrived yesterday **YIPPEEE**
It was better than Christmas morning:D:D
We worked from 5:30 until 1:15 am and had to give up from exhaustion:o All is assembled ( although I have a strong feeling that the Noctua is positioned 90º out), but whatever we do our "baby" won't power-up. I have tested the PSU and it's AOK, have re-seated the ram too.

Can anyone help us in our hour of need, please ???:):(:)

(Can take photos if that would be of help:))

Thanks guys,

Both power supplies 24 & 8 pin are connected.

Case buttons are connected.

Standoff, Erm..don't remember that one.

Give me 5, I'll take some photos...BRB

Thanks again.

Oh Yes !!

Will the Noctua heatsink/fan have to be rotated (is it possible to remove it from the chip and re-use with all the gunk coolant on it?) by 90º ?

Thanks once again.

Ahhh, that's cool. Thank you for your reassurance, my heart isn't jumping through my chest cavity now :D

Maybe a little drink would help ? Jest.

Will let you know how we get on.

Thanks so much !!!!!

Hi again,

Have just disassembled the whole thing and the are 4 standoff's factory fitted on the lower half of where the P5Q would sit but none above this point. The case is an Antec 300.
The mobo would have been directly screwed to the top half of the case with the two thumbscrews.

I have cleaned the cpu and heatsink ready for re-assembly, and just inserted the other standoff/risers into the case.

Wish me luck :D

I Thank You, Thank You, Thank You !!!

StoutMeister.

Now time for a celebratory drink for daddy and junior can install Windows7:D

It was the standoffs or the sata in the wrong socket, I cannnot be sure of which as I changed both at the same timem, sorry I can't be of more help there.

Thanks guys for all your support and help, it means a lot when the pressure's on;););)and the morale low:(:):):):):):)

Will post some more pics when we've calmed down after a day or two:cool::cool:
