Hi All,

After having just posted about wanted an upgrade specced it looks like I might have to speed the process up a bit.

When I turn the PC on, at the initial BIOS screen I get this (it's a little blurred but you get the idea I hope).

When in Windows some graphics are still corrupt, like icons and the mouse pointer. I also get corruption in Ubuntu.

Trying to play World of Warcraft is now impossible.

All this happened after I cleaned the keys on my keyboard (with the PC off of course).

Hopefully someone will have a magic fix but I fear the worst.

Any suggestions.

Well its not software related as you're seeing corruption at the POST screen. Whenever i've seen this in the past its usually been down to a faulty graphics card, crasked or damaged PCB. Has your PC had any knocks or have you been into it recently? Had a look to see if there are any dead rodents inside, or a large dust build up? - it could be a short of somekind. I'd reseat the card. Check power connector etc.

Could possibly the PSU but if none of the above work i'd say it's ****** Either that or someones trying to tell you that playing WoW is just wrong :P

What graphics card is it?

I had the same thing on both a 6600GT and a 7900GT.

Anyway yeah, that looks like dead graphics card ram.

The machine spec is

Akasa Zen case
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe (not 100% healthy after old psu blew many months ago)
Athlon xp 3200 Barton
Zalman CNPS7000A CPU Cooler
Radeon 9800Pro
Audigy 2
2 * 512Mb Crucial PC3200 DDR
NEC ND-3520A DVD-RW
1 * Seagate 500GB SATAII 7200rpm 16mb Cache H/D
1 * Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 200Gb SATA 8mb Cache H/D
Enermax Noisetaker 485W PSU

I only rebuilt the machne a few weeks ago when I go my Akasa Zen case. The machine has been running fine since then, was even OK this morning but obviously something just upset it this afternoon.

Check the fan on the graphics card is still spinning, mine did that (9500) when the fan failed, worked perfectly fine once i modded a 9800 fan to fit the card.

If the fan is still working though, its very likely the card is dead unfortunately.

Thats either a dodgy PSU or Gfx card, or both. Try putting spare parts in or stealing them out other pc's see if you can figure out which one it is.

All fans are still spinning!

Looks like I need to convince the wife that a new machine would make solitaire so much better.
