First of all, the service from OCUK has been brilliant, I can't fault it.
I am having an annoying issue, and I can't work it out.
I had an XFX 4890, on an old Asus board with a Core2Duo E6300 and 2GB RAM.
Since I'd had it I occasionally got some graphical glitches in games, I thought it was down to bugs/drivers or something, especially on the older hardware.
I upgrade to an Asus M5A78L USB3, a Phenom 955 and 8GB RAM, also got an OcUK 650W PSU.
The glitches were still there, and started getting worse, I RMAd the card.
It was exchanged, after around a month the replacement card died (random blocks of colour etc, even on the BIOS screen) so I RMAd that too.
Turns out the first card was actually out of warranty when I sent it, but out of goodwill OcUK offered to replace it with an Asus 6850, which I was very pleased with. That arrived yesterday, today I installed it to find it doesn't work...
With this card all I get is 100% fan, no signal. Sometimes after a reset the fan goes normal, but still no signal.
I have a new 750W XFX PSU, and I've tried the OcUK one, and another 650W I had with a noisy fan. Same on all.
I've tried the card in a friends PC, it does the same, and I've tried his 9800 in mine, it works fine.
Things I've checked:
PSU is powerful enough (tried 3 different ones)
Motherboard BIOS is up to date, set for PCIE first (and I've cleared it, works fine with the 9800)
Tried the card in another machine (doesn't work)
Tried another card in my machine (works)
IGP works fine.
Now, it looks to me that the card is DOA, but can I really be that unlucky to have 3 faulty cards in a row?
I'll have to ring OcUK tomorrow to see what can be done, but I really don't look forward to it!
Any ideas what I could be missing?
edit: machine in sig is the old one is any use, new one is :
Phenom 955
Asus M5A78LM USB3
G.Skill RipJaw 8GB
XFX 750W PSU
Windows 7 64
300GB and a 500GB SATA drives.
