had a reoccurring problem recently which i have not been able to fix. when gaming my graphics will just mess up. sometimes it will just restart the ATI drivers but other times it will cause issues which require a reboot.

just had another where it turned everything greyscale and some flickering along with random colour changes when selecting/highlighting things. when shutting down however it reverted back to normal then rebooted. this points to a software issue but i dont know where to look. i have the most recent ATI drivers (catalyst 9.9)

i have recently replace my mobo and gpu to resolve these problems but to no avail, the last one i can think of is memory which i will be doing soon. but after that its all software based, which doesnt bother me since im moving to win7 on release.

back on topic, anyone think of what might be causing the issues?

maybe a overheating problem, have you checked your temps in ccc, take a look at the idle and post it up, maybe of some help, does your case have good airflow?

temps are normal for the GPU. rarely goes over 70C. i dont think it is related to the GPU since i got a new one and the problem persists. and yes my case has perfect airflow

Do you install the gpu drivers over each other? Instead of removing the existing ones first?

I'm only asking because i heard that simply deleting them using the control panel isn't enough and sometimes you need a dedicated program to get rid of them.

installed over each other. shouldnt be a problem since ATI expect people to do that kind of thing and so will address any problems in the development cycle

im sure you should be removing all previous drivers fisrt, control panel/programs and features/double click ati install manager/ click next/ express uninstall all ati software/next
