Graphics Lag

Hey guys got my asus hd 4850 512mb this week and when playing games i notice that games sometimes jump. Sort of like a split second pause and then jumping to where i would be after the pause.

Could this be hardware other then my graphics card?
memory or harddrive perhaps?
could my pci express slot be broken? ( my last card xfx 8800gts died )

any help that you give would be great cheers!

What you're experiencing isn't lag. Lag is usually to do with networking/internet and the like.

What are the rest of your hardware specs?

Check what other programs you are running.

Any temp/voltage monitoring programs, sometimes they can cause this?

well i just formatted my pc yesturday.
installed windows 7
all games have split second "lag"
im running asus smartdoctor and gamer osd ( which came with the graphic card )

i am running
shuttle sd39p2
e6600 2.4ghz ( clocked to 3.0ghz )
4gb dd2 corsair memory
asus hd 4850 512mb
hitachi 500gb 7200rpm sata 2 hdd
samsung 750gb 7200rpm sata 2 hdd

edit....

before while playing css when planting the bomb just before planting it little squares appeared over the bomb
also in one round the left quarter of the screen had a frozen image

ok so while playing a game not too long ago this happened ( sorry for bad pic was taken with my phone )

vertical lines were going down the screen
