Graphics problem! help

Ok so i recently got a new PC and it runs amazingly but the only problem ive noticed is that when the contents of the screen are more dark than light it goes fully black. This hasn't really been a problem until i tried to play crysis 3 and i cant get past the menus because its too dark. I dont think its the monitor because i used it with my laptop and also if i alt tab back onto the game i can see the menu for a second. Ive tried Reinstalling drivers and changing the different settings but i dont know what the problem is, so any help will be appreciated.

Specs;

Intel 3570k i5 3.8ghz
AMD 7970 Ghz edition
8 Gb Ram
Windows 8 64bit

it isnt just crysis that this happens on, its everything. Even if its a movie im watching in full screen if its too dark it will just go fully black :/

nah its definetly not the monitor because like i said, it works fine when hooked up to my laptop and also when im tabbed out from the thing im viewing, be it a game or movie etc, i can see it all. its only when the screen is mostly dark, it can even have white text but the screen just goes black.
