Just started playing Painkiller again and every now and then i see a very thin black line dash across the screen. This happens when playing the game and even when just on the main menu. What could this be down too? Overheating? The card isnt overclocked in anyway. Its a 7950GT 512Mb

Any help please?

Thanks in advance.

are you getting artifacts in the BIOS? or in Windows?

It could mean your GPU is overheating, but only if it is happening in other games too....

If it is JUST in one game (like Painkiler, which is in no way demanding on a 7950 GT) then it is more likely a driver issue....

Its only just started since i installed that game. Not seen it in anyother places tho. Hopefully this is just a driver issue as last time my card overheated and blew up and had to rma it.

If no other games show artifacts like that then it could be the install of painkiller. Do you have it all patched up? Also, are your vid drivers up to date?

I installed oblivion on my work pc (yes... naughty... i know! ) with a 3800x2 and a 7800gt in vista 32 and got awful artifacting and polygon stretching. Turned out it was a combination of patch updates for oblivion (sorted a lot of the artifacting and menu issues) and the forceware drivers for the 7800gt.

Hopefully it'll be something simple like that! :)
