graphics program

Hi all,

Ive decided to get back into web design after nearly 7 years away from it, getting up to scratch with CSS but its always been the gfx side of web design that ive been lacking at.

My old boss sells software and gave me a free copy of Photoshop CS2 that they had been given to try out, however i just cant get into it and i cant find any decent tutorials online that start with the basics and move onwards.

What other programs would you recommend that i try out?

I should have put the tutorial things differently, ive found absolutely **** loads of tuts, however none of the ones i have found are structured.

None start off at the beginning and work towards the advanced stuff, they always totally intermingled.

I have found a few tuts that im working through for photoshop, thanks for all the other suggestions, ill look into those now.
