Hi Guys.

I've been looking around these forums for some time now, and have been wondering how many people pay with V-Sync enabled? I always turn vsync on when playin FPS games because i seem to be sensitive to the tearing effect that happens when my pc is kicking out more than 60fps. Does anyone else do this and if not how do you combat the tearing issue?

Yes V-sync On all the time, especially for games/sims that need fast panning. I also use a TrackIR for flight simming and it would be impossible to use it with V-sync turned Off.

Make sure you enable Tripple Buffering in your graphics card options which will give you better fps with V-sync On.
You should be able to tell if triple-buffering is working when vsync is on, there'll be a higher framerate with it on and triple-buffering enabled, framerates will not appear to be linked to monitor refresh rate (or integer divisors of monitor refresh rate such as 60/2 = 30fps, 60/3 = 20fps etc ;
In other words when you do not have Tripple Buffering on you might notice massive jumps in-between frame rates when they drop).

Your LCD will always be capped at 60fps (if that is your LCD refresh rate) with V-sync On, but that's fine and more than enough frames for smooth play (our eyes/brain can only process so many at one time and 60 fps is more than enough).
For some people, seeing that they are hitting 200+ fps in-game might make them feel like they are going faster thought :)
As always, our old enemy are the minimum ones; the little rascals they are.

I understand that more than 60fps is pointless because the eye has trouble seing the diference over 60fps, but when i turn vsync on the mouse seems to react a little slower and there seems to be a little mouse lag.

Are there any setting that will help to eliminate this mouse lag.
Sorry if its a dumb question but i have always used a CRT up untill now.

I have a 22inch iiyama Prolite 2200ws if that helps

SnoozE
