Graphics Supply Constraints Solved – R9 Fury Series To See Wide Availability in Q4

Personally I think even if Nvidia launches on 16NM first before AMD,I would be surprised to see any 16NM cards hitting retail availability before summer(maybe Quadro ones for select commerical customers),otherwise it will make the Titan X and GTX980TI among the shortest lived Nvidia high end GPUs made.

Unless OFC both companies concentrate on pipecleaner midrange parts.

I could be wrong.

Believe it when you see it, the fact this statement was made by the CEO at an end of quarter figures release it could just be damage control.

I hope it isn't as I want the nano to get down to that £300-350 bracket, but just don't get your hopes up.

Well according to reports, Pascal is still on track, so could well be less than 5 months away, so how on earth is it a daft attitude? And how is that 12 months away?
 
If Pascal is only 5 months away then there is little or no point buying a Titan X,GTX980TI,or any of the Fury cards now since they would be destroyed in performance.

Its a full node shrink plus HBM and probably improved DX12 and VR capabilities.

It would be like buying a GTX580 or HD6970 5 months before the GTX680 or HD7970 or a GTX285 5 months before the HD5870.

Exactly, there is many threads with people asking what they should upgrade 'X' card to last them a good couple of years and if the card they have can manage, I do tell them to wait it out.

could be a long wait for some power saving :p

im sure the next cards will be amazing but i doubt price>performance is going to change huge anytime soon!? *shrug*

What reports? i don't know of any reports that say Pascal will be available in 5 Months, there are reports that say TSMC's volume production 16nm kicks off in Q2 2016 (assuming no delays) it would be another quarter for final testing, production and channel distribution.

Yer, I doubt they will be cheap but so long as it delivers a nice boost over GM200/204 and doesn't cost the earth, I will be on it.

When has AMD ever tried to punt their slower top end card priced higher than Nvidia's faster gpu?

Stock dictates price, no stock equates to high pp then gouging.

7970 is a good example, ~£430, couldn't shift them, stock gathers, price droped to £299.99-they flew out the door.;)

You mentioned holding off, if they don't want to wait it out, what do you suggest they buy, the gouged overpriced FX or the cheaper faster 980Ti-due to larger inventory in the channels?

Nvidia doesn't need to release Pascal anytime soon due to AMD's current lackluster price to performance ratio, no one's tripping over themselves to purchase leaving very little reason for big N needing a TX Pascal replacement, at this rate it will be tiny 950Ti Pascal...
