Is there anyway to get rid of graphics tearing because it is extremely bad on quake 4 and also i get a little on counter strike source

I dont know how to describe what i see so i stole this from another forum :

To me, for example, tearing is when the screen refreshes partway through the drawing, so that there's a visible "rip" dividing two parts, which is caused by playing without vsync.

Thats what is happening to me but counter strike doesnt seem to like vsync

All settings on max on both games, css has 6x aa and 16x af and quake has 2x aa not sure about af as it doesnt show in the graphic settings

turn on vsync in the game for those that like it, turn it on via the graphics control panel outside of a game for those that dont, just a couple of suggestions. good luck.

Try different refresh rates/resolution combos. I can remember having the same problems with my 21" CRT; some games had less tearing at higher refresh rates (e.g. 100hz).
