Well since as though ive now fixed my computer, ive just thought about getting a graphics upgrade for the christmas, ive kinda been under the radar since a year ago on here so i dont know where we are in terms of graphics ect, so im looking for a not too expensive upgrade from a 8800GT Superclocked, if its worth it considering i dont want to spend a bomb.

thanks :)

(thats if i even need a upgrade, i was just thinking its been a year since i got this computer and there could be some games coming that need a grahpics boost)

Depending on what games you play the 8800GT is still very adequate.

ATI 4850 - not hugely faster than the 8800GT unless your playing higher res/AA but cheapest upgrade that could even be considered.

ATI 4870 - a decent performance boost over the 8800GT but your looking at the best part of £200

nVidia 260GTX - again a decent performance boost over the 8800GT but again around £200.

Highest res i play at is 1280x1024, and you can say i play all top games.

not worth it just yet then ?, would i see a price drop around christmas time for them cards ?

and the 260GTX can that play crysis all very high ? yes thats how out dated i am still comparing with crysis, like a year ago :D

Anksy a new 22'' monitor would be great I reckon, but you will then find you might need more power to drive the pixels...
Depends what mood santa is in this yr I guess :D

My advice is never buy graphics cards from ATI, too many problems.

As you don't want to spend a lot of money on graphics card, then I suggest you to buy 9600GT with SLI. It's cheap for one, but of course you'll have to buy another :p I got 9600GT SLI, it ran Crysis well, but not on Very High though.

What a load of ******* crap that is.

Id say you may as well hang on if you don't want to spend to much, as from an 8800 GT superclocked id only go for the 4870 tbh, probably be the only card to give a good boost in performance, and theres nothing worth buying from Nvidia as they are way more expensive and slower, GTX 280 is around £120+ more, yet gets beat at high res with lots of AA off the 4870, and when it is faster its not by much, certainly not £120+ worth, and the 260 is slower and more expensive.

Quality post once again.

Think you'll need to back your comment up with fact.

If he has an SLI board then another 8800GT would be worthwhile (even at 1280x).

I'd agree with ATI being problematic personally - just look at the number of threads with people having issues with the 4870!

9600GT SLI tho is a big no.
