Graphics Upgrade, But cpu might limit it?

Right im stuck on my system, i want things to look nicer and smoother, but at the same time i cant do it all at once...So CPU is an E6300 C2D oc'd from 1.8ghz to 3.2ghz and a measley 4850 512mb lol - So really what do i do? and what can i get within a 120 budget..
 
God knows my PSU now lol, i do believe its an OCZ of some sort with blue modular cables, been a long time since ive looked at it lol.

Edit..520w Modstream rings a bell, but without taking my case panels off im not sure.

OCZs are pretty solid.
The 6870 should pull similar power to your 4850 in all honesty.
(might be worth finding out, just to be safe)
 
The lowest I'd go at the mo is a GTX460 1GB and they are £110 new. but the extra £10 for the 6870 is worth it if your spending that much already.

If you could find a 2nd hand GTX460 for a decent price then thats not a bad way to go.
 
You've got a decent clock on it so you should be ok, the more you push the gaming settings though the more the CPU will affect gameplay.
 
I know the 6870 seems to be decent, but is the 6850 worth looking at? Spotted a Black edition in a local store yesterday for £111.98, dunno if thats worth looking at, even if i buy it then re-sell it lol
 
Aye i know, im just looking at all the options thats all, as i can probably barter with the shop as its a little independent place - but in the grand scheme of things are they just as good - got to remember im coming from a 4850 lol so anything moden is gonna be an improvement.
 
I literally have no idea, id have to go in and ask them to open it up, as i only saw the box in the window, which is what promted me to think about upgrading the graphics as the price was fairly low.

the first link doesnt work, think i saw something on the box saying 820mhz, something like that

Its 850mhz core.

Both cards are the same apart from the cooler bolted to them.

The shop is unlikely to be able to give you much off it as they have overheads that an internet/larger retailer doesnt so there profit margins are going to be tighter.

For your budget you should also be able to look at a second hand 5850 or if lucky a 5870 with the 5850 being between the 6850 and 6870 and the 5870 being faster than the 6870.
