Graphics Upgrade from x1800xt?

Ok im in need of a new card, this isnt cutting it anymore, by all counts a good card, but i need something more beefy..

Now i dont have a budget per say, but i would like the cheapest option to be offered.
Card at the moment is a Connect3d x1800xt 512mb pci-e

Now i have done some research and searching, and found that the Nvidia 8800GT's are the best card to go for these days..but ive been with Ati since my ATI Radeon 9000 64MB Video Card, and Nvidia have never entered my buying eye, but now they have..

So the question is would the 8800GT be the best option to making the step into Nvidia land?

You can't have researched that well as you would have found that up until 3 weeks ago the 8800Gt was best bang for buck but got totally wiped out by the ati 4850.

For £117 now there is no other card to compare and it will be a dramatic step up from your current card.

Ok fair game, still have the same problem with Eve and no AA though...hmm choices.

Thanks to greedo, i did some more searching and it does indeed seem to be the best card to go for for out right power, i guess the AA in Eve can suffer and make my eyes hurt

dude, the latest ATi cards are brilliant for AA ect, they hardly get hit, it will play Eve beautifully.

oh its not that lozz..sometimes AA doesnt work with eve on ati cards, something that has never been fixed, sometimes you can be lucky and it works and looks nice, but you can undock and aa is gone lol.
