Hello,

Brought everything for my build a couple of weeks ago..

i5-3570k
Gigabyte z77-D3H
PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Thermalright True Spirit 120 CPU Cooler
OCZ Agility 3 60GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD
Old WD 640gb sata 2 Hard drive

Currently have my old ATI 4850 in because I lacked funds for the Graphics card then, and its letting me run borderlands on pretty much high settings which suprised me, but now its time for me to get a shiny new graphics card.

Im torn between the AMD 7850, 7870 and 7950, with the good deals on games. Would spending the extra ~£80 on the 7950 be justified? Because it is obvious I will be getting a huge improvement anyway, I might as well be running on onboard gfx :D

I do have enough for the 7950, but was thinking about getting a sata 3 harddrive instead of my old 640GB (which I ripped out of my old external HDD, its really noisy and years old) currently using for data and games, the SSD just has windows installed on.

Lastly I have a Zalman z9 plus case, Will I encounter any problems fitting in a larger card?

Many thanks for any help

I would go for the 7950, if you don`t like the games you can always sell them. And it will fit in the Zalman , no problem.

Did you get the B grade Gigabyte Z77-D3H, i mentioned in your other thread.

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7950 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H795F3G2M) with FREE FARCRY3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs & 20% off MOH Warfighter PC Games £221.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) £43.99
Total : £277.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

7950 hands down. Best bang for the buck at the moment and the new drivers have put the 7950 against the 670 but the 7950 oc headroom will bring you very high compared to other gpu overclocking headroom

Yeah I got the B grade z77, I couldn't spot anything wrong with it at all, even had the leads. Got the CPU cooler that was recommended too, only had the thermal paste missing. Runs very cool :) I haven't overclocked yet though because I'm new to Ivybridge, I've read some guides but I'm abit clueless to be honest.

I think I will keep the games, I dont own any which is a bonus.

I also managed to find the store last time, took about 3 hours to get there and back, but should be quicker now they have moved location, I will head down this weekend, thanks a lot. 7950 it is!

With the free games that come with it the 7950 seem to be a very good deal. The extra £80 is can be part recouped up by the games that it comes with if you like them. If you don't you could always look into selling them to maybe make back some of the extra cost.

Good, nice result on the mobo. So, nice couple of bargains, lovely. :D

No bargains to be had in the Clearance side for graphics. :(

Yep, every single thing I brought was on offer :D

Only other things I want are Mechanical Keyboard and a g5, but they will wait until xmas I think
