At present I am running a Gainward Bliss 7800GT "Goes Like Hell" 512MB and i am looking to upgrade this to a newer 8800 but I am stuck on which version to choose GT or GTS.

Budget is around 180 incl VAT. I don't do a vast amount of gaming but when i do I like it to look pretty good.

Any advice?
 
I've a gainward 8800 GTS 512 meself which was upgraded from an 8800 GT 512 and while the GTS is faster, I don't honestly believe that the performance difference is worth the extra. If you're gonna overclock it, then get a GT and clock it, you'll get GTS performance easily. But you can also overclock the GTS and get more out of that. If value for money is important, then deffo the GT, if out and out performance is important, then get the GTS. Also the if you're restricted space wise, the GT does have a narrower cooler (single slot) whereas the GTS has a dual slot cooler (wider) but check first, some manufacturers might have changed their cooling solutions. :)
 
As above GT is currently the price / performance winner, the 3950's are ok but GT prices are much more competetive than they were and if the difference between a 3850 and a GT are £20 or so then it's a GT all the way.
 
the lowest price one WITH best cooler some are ment to get dam hot.Would get the newer GTS looking cooler on a GT if i was getting one.
