Graphics upgrade

GTX should be excellent at that res, x2 may be slightly better but it depends how much u would be willing to lose on selling the GTX for the increase in performance

I've been gaming at 1280 by 1024 for a while now! Would this resolution bottleneck the GTX?, will I have to crank down textures (HQ at the moment), AF (forced on at x16), etc to keep fps up? Can anyone please offer some advice?

I reckon it will still be bottlenecked. I'm sure I was still getting an increase in SM2 and SM3 scores when pushing past 3.2Ghz at 1280x1024 in 3dmark.

Some settings you will have to turn down in the odd game at a higher resolution but I think 1680x1050 is do-able for just about all titles (bar Crysis).

Cheers! I am going to run most games with 16x AF (forced) that should not trouble the 8800GTX OC2 much as it has a 384-bit BUS. Will probably turn AA off or down to x2 as it will not really be required at that resolution.

Aye, you'll be more than fine :).

See if you can increase your shader clock up from 1450 to circa 1650 or so, and maybe core clock to 640-650ish

Should be ok for 4AA/16AF @ 1920x1280, possibly knock down to 2AA like you mentioned

Was disappointed with 22" Pebble, uneven backlight. In fact I'd get a 24" since you have a GTX. I've got a 24" running a lower end card, still great for everything except Crysis. Race 07 1920x1200 smooth, everything maxed out

Guys I am gonna buy the Samsung Pebble and game at 1680x1050. I have at the moment a GTX is it worth upgrading to the 3870X2 also?

my 8800gt runs all but crysis on 1680*1050 at max
you will be fine with your gtx
and by the sounds of things from the rumour merchants today
you will still be fine with your gtx for a good 9 months

What tool are you using to overclock your GTX mate? ATT or nTune?

Hi, I just use latest Rivatuner, have created a stock and an overclock profile as well as two fan speed profiles 60% and 100%.

When I game or benchmark just select the overclock profile and 100% fan, not bothered about noise as I game with headphones on anyway

Can't get my GTX above 1520MHz on the shader and 630Mhz on the core :(
Oh well thanx anyway! With the card being pre overclocked did'nt expect much anyway!
