Graphics Vs Game play...

In an ideal world, sexy graphics and awesome gameplay together are prefreble for most people I would think. But it never turns out like that usually. Games cost a bomb to make these days and when devs spend all that lolly on the graphics to 'artificially' make their game look good but very little on the gameplay itself, then it really annoys me.

About the only game I've played this year that had both graphics and gameplay done well was The Witcher. A really good example of nice graphics/art direction helping with the immersion of an already deep game.

Didn't the original operation flashpoint have movement limiting factors when injured? I seem to remember crashing my car into a lamppost at speed and only able to crawl afterwards.

well i think deus ex 1 and fallout 1/2 series there had not so good graphics but the game play was so good might play it again. miss those times :)

The game you describe already exists. Play Americas Army or Red Orchestra. :)

i thought rainbow six 3 was a good looking game and i enjoyed it a lot on the xbox.

i never played dungeon keeper 2.... but i played the 1st one.. has to be one of the best games ive ever played! brilliant! :):) was wicked being the creatures and stuff and running around like a fool! spitting blood at imps! lol good times, wonder if it will still work on my PC.
whats DK2 like?

Never played the first. The second had me hooked for ages but its ruined because you can cheat online by typing codes in. Why on earth they did that i dont know.

bit late to the discussion but these threads always come down to the same thing:

no point having top notch gfx if you are not going to play for long enough to enjoy them due to poor gameplay!

^The publishers' take on this is:

No point having top notch gameplay if you are not going to have good enough graphics to attract media hype!
