Hello People..

WOW! Not been here in a while.

Always had good advice on here...

OK Here it is.. The BIG leap forward due to Bonus at work I have £850 (exec VAT as I live on Jersey).... :D

Opions please on the New system build and which way to go....

  • ATI Radeon HD 4850 x 2
  • Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT x 2
  • ATI Radeon HD 4870
  • GeForce 9800 GTX
  • PAINFULLY wait a couple of months

I have been using a laptop as my main game machine, and before that I had an old AM2 system with a 6800GS+ in it..

The Money is in the bank and it will burn a hole in my pocket soon.. I think waiting will kill me!!

What do I go for people??

I need serious help

Ditto Aekeron really. Spend your money on the lcd which you will keep the longest and the rest of the spec of the main rig.

Buy a single 4850 or maybe the extra £70 on the 4870 if you do get a 24" screen.

Later on you can always then add another 4870 if you feel the need for speed!

Thought about 1 4850... Would defiantly scratch my itch to buy something :)

Don't need LCD have a good LG 22 inch flanked by 2 x 19 inchers.. What can I say I'm a real estate wh$%e!!!!

:p

In which case go for two 4870's or two 4850's unless you have a card already to run the other two monitors?

Get a 4870 and once they come out get a 4870X2 and tri-crossfire them (I take it they work like that, like the 3870s?)

Can't support 3 monitors with crossfire AFIK

Hence buy two 4870's

Plus the op has to buy his whole system for £850. Spending £200+ now on a 4870 and then another £600-£800 on two 4870x2 is just ridiculous advice IMO

So that would leave him at best £50 to buy his cpu, mobo, ram, psu? Any advice on his choice of components for £50? :p

Only really need to run 2 of the monitors at a push..
3rd is for KVM access to my servers. BUT would be nice to have all three. I take it most cards still ship with dual monitor access as standard. They used to my day ;)

Got a good idea on the other specs so i sure that 200 - 250 for the card is what i budget....

Yeah all support dual monitors.

So for £200-£250 I'd just get a 4870 and maybe something 2nd hand, cheap and nasty for the third monitor.

Yep.. Been reading a few posts here Looks like I maybe going back to ATI and a 4870..
It will be a heck of a leap anyway for me gaming wise...
