Great AMD prices. help please GIBBO.

When will the great prices be ending for these AMD socket 939 chips as it is my Bday in september so will they still be selling them cheaply then or is there a certain time limit for the sales before they maybe discontinue them?

The prices are going to stay that low until stock runs out.
AMD are no-longer making 939 pin cpus.

Well i have just got this pc so i dont want to complete re-build it lol just want to upgrade the cpu and maybe get 2gb more ram.

Mybe add a new PSU and go crossfire with my x1800xt instead? and just clock my cpu as high as poss?

Yeah well if it's games you want to run better I would go crossfire. Your CPU at 2.8 won't be a bottle neck I don't think...

Games are fine at this res so probs get a nwe monitor with 1600x1280 or what ever res n crossfire

You can still buy new Athlon XP CPU's if you look hard enough and AMD stopped making them a long long time ago. A64 939's will still be available in September this year, and probably September next year also. When Conroe arrives in numbers, the prices will decrease and nobody will want A64's anymore.

another 2GB of RAM would be a waste too, unless you do some serious video and image editing, which from the rest of the specs looks unlikely

Hi there

They will all be no doubt gone by end of this month. AMD released 2000 Athlon 64 4000's into Europe at these cracking prices. OcUK took 600 and 150 sold overnight, so expect us to be down too approx 300 or less next week. We are trying to convince Europe to release us another 400 units.

What will no doubt happen is product will re-appear in September but will come from places who put stock aside and as product will be so scarce they will charge the earth for them. In fact if Socket A is anything to go the prices could as much double........
