Went for the first time in a few years to the Blackheath display. Around 100,000 people must have been there. A stunning display.

Most councils get a hard time from residents, but kudos to Greenwich council for putting this on every year. Must cost an absolute bomb (excuse the pun).

Anyone else been to a public display tonight?

EDIT: Actually just found out it has more to with Lewisham council than Greenwich.

Anyone went to the Winchester one? was great.

Wanted to have a decent camera on me, think of a medieval street full of 100's of people holding torches. Was an awesome sight.

Went to the one in West Bromwich, nothing new with the fireworks display but you can tell they have cut down on splashing out on the event like they used to years back.

Standard.

ha, you southerners are too skint, so the council put on a show for you, stops you rioting

this was last year and its a council run and owned park

Theres one every year organised by the local rotary club in a park opposite my house. Been to it a few times but this year I just watched it from my house. Think its a fiver for a ticket.

Why the hell are a council putting on a fireworks show, presume you had to pay to get in?

Its grim up north.

newcastle sucks nothing at my local park which is in the city centre.... nothing down by the river..

when i lived in nottingham they had fair rides and fireworks along the banks of the river :(

We used to have a display every year in Sunderland, They set them off on the pier, Had a massive fire going on the beach and sold roast potatoes cooked on it, Then you had the park all lit up and children's rides and stalls winding down the bank to the beach, Was great. That ended years ago now though :(

I guess we still have the air show which is popular but tbh it's a bit pants lol

what a waste of money, the country is goiung down the pan and the council's think its ok to throw milllions away on fireworks yet they dont fix the potholes on my way to work

well done

good night out for the family and worth every penny and probably comes from a different budget anyway so even if there were no firworks display your potholes wouldnt get fixed any quicker.

btw you do know theres a website where you can report potholes right?
http://www.fixmystreet.com genuine website not a sarcasticly made up one
job done should have your pothole fixed within 1-2 weeks if you bother to report it to the relevant people instead of rant about it on this forum

Went to Blackheath last year, very good display over there. Didn't go to one this year though unfortunately.

Went to the display in battle this evening, train there was full of noisy underage drinking chavs and while the display was good, it reminded me how much idiot scum lives in my region, getting on the train back was a crowded nightmare.

Most councils do - it also helps with "bonfire night" safety as easily accessible organised events will mean individuals don't need to do their own.
