M-Audio has released on 1.4.08 new drivers for Revolution 5.1 and Revolution 7.1 for Vista 32-bit.
Users with Revolution 5.1 can update from their beta driver to the newer version and people with Revolution 7.1 that didn't have even a bete driver can get the full driver for their sound card.

Here is the link http://www.m-audio.com/ to get the updates.

Now tell them to hurry and get the 64-bit versions out aswell.

Yeah noticed that earlier. As said need 64 bit drivers. Not planning to change XP to Vista for the HTPC, unless Media Portal has a 64 bit version.

Wish they would take the time to squeeze out some vista drivers for their USB soundcards, at least this counts for something though :)

From what i have seen in their drivers download center it has some USB soundcards with 32-bit Vista drivers aswell.

Anyone got the M-Audio - Revolution? All the reviews date back to around 2003 when it was originally released, how does it fair in the latest games?

Well Nelly the review you probably come across is for the Revolution 7.1. There is quite an amount of reviews for that certain card but i am sure you shall have a hard time finding a proper review for the 5.1 model. According to some articles l have read at the time l purchased the card say that the 5.1 uses a better quality DAC allowing better sound quality than the 7.1 version.
Now answering your question, l wouldn't go for this card if gaming is your main focus. It's suited for people who listen a lot of music and the sound quality was quite better than the Audigy 2 ZS i used before.
As for movies, decoding is done by the CPU but the hit is very small since most people today and especially in this website are using very powerful systems.

Hehe, been doing abit of scouting around on the web & I noticed that from one review the M-Audio Revolution 5.1 was released around a year after the 7.1 & has better DAC - AKM 4358, which is used on their Audiophile 192 card.

I am a gamer at heart, not sure what to do as I dont like Asus so the Xonar is out of the question really . . .

disregarding the xonar because you dont like asus is such a silly thing to do lol.
lol maybe :) I've had bad experiance with Asus previously, kinda put me off buying anymore of their products, it's not out of the question though. :)

It's crazy that their isnt enough competition in terms of gaming cards it's like Creative wrapped up the market & if anyone comes out with anything near capable, Creative just sue them & make them go bust lol.
