Great PC's, dodgy software?

I did write a review of my X6 PC recently purchased from OC but they've obviously decided not to show it.

I will say that the build quality of my PC is first class, the communication at point of sale was excellent, delivery was very quick. The only part of the process that has let OC down is the dodgy software.

It was delivered to me with Adobe 4 for heavens sake, that went out with the ark. I also had a programme called Smart Saver which caused all kinds of problems and numerous games (Mountain Bike, did I ask for it, hell no!).

In the end, my PC man came and looked at the system and discovered, after a scan, over 1000 problems with various parts of the PC. He tried to correct them, some he managed to do but others he couldn't fix.

In the end, we took the collective decision to start from fresh with a complete Windows re-install. This done, along with a few of my programmes of choice, the PC is just what I wanted. It's quick, pages I want open up (unlike before where pages opened up just by clicking in the search text box) and all in the world is good.

Like my review, I doubt this will be allowed to stay here but I thought I should warn any potential buyers of the problems I have had.

Hello,

the software you have found on your machine must have been accidentally installed, we use driver discs that are bundled in with components like your motherboard these discs can have bundled software, I can only assume that a builder has accidentally installed the software though each piece of software installed is removable by going to the control panel.

I'm really interested to know what he used to perform the scan.

However in a similar situation, I probably would have contacted OCUK in the first instance and asking if they would resolve the issues for you.

maybe it would be good to know what issues he was not able to fix as well??

as Damo says motherboard drivers and other drivers that come with hardware also get bundled with useless software as well.

as others have said you should have given OCUK a call as their customer service is good and I have never had any issues with getting anything sorted out

sometimes on systems there is options for free anti virus software which you can select no too as well when ordering PCs through their website

Because Overclockers were highly recommended.

However in a similar situation, I probably would have contacted OCUK in the first instance and asking if they would resolve the issues for you

I did after numerous web pages kept opening up and a gentleman told me because I had downloaded Firefox and the system wasn't as built and delivered, they couldn't do anything for me. It was them who suggested calling in a local person to help me, I just have a man who can on PC's.

Perfectly understandable but he couldn't remove Smart Saver for love nor money. So, are you suggested that the woefully out of date Adobe was part of the bundled software?

Perhaps it was just my bad luck, who knows. However, I can honestly say that the PC is now running brilliantly and I'm very pleased with it.

Are you sure you didn't just download something from a website like download.cnet that gave you a bunch of rubbish? i've never had driver disks give me anything particularly unwanted to the point it caused me to need a complete reinstall

I may not know a great deal about computers but I'm not thick.

All of the 'dodgy' programmes were installed 3 days before I received the PC according to the dates in the file list.

sorry the amount of rubbish i see on peoples computers on a daily basis is ridiculous!

Driver discs are usually outdated anyway
