Not had my LCD too long but I just noticed a green pixel near the bottom of the screen its not that easy to spot unless the background is pure red but is there anyway to get rid of it?

Sounds like a stuck pixel. Depending on your warranty you may be able to get the panel replaced. What is your monitor and did you buy it new?

There are ways of fixing it - try running this and cycle the colours around the area of the stuck pixel for 20 minutes or so. Sometimes this can get them to behave.

There are more aggressive ways of fixing them, but these would invalidate your warranty.

its a viewsonic vx2260wm bought it around december before xmas , il check that program out and see if it works

This is taken off the viewsonic website:

ViewSonic LCD desktop display products are warranted with our LCD Pixel Performance Guarantee. Through this limited warranty, you are guaranteed high-quality screen performance with no more than four (4) improperly operating pixels total and no more than three (3) bright or three (3) dark pixels.

Unfortunately, if it is just one stuck pixel then Viewsonic will not replace your monitor.

If it's a dead pixel you can try turning it off, apply some pressure on the pixel, turn it back on and release the pressure.

This helps the liquid flood back into the dead pixel, I know yours isn't dead but it may work.

I know it sounds silly but try rubbing around the area of the screen where the dead pixel is, this is known to solve such issues.

Have a look at this guide. I know it says for macs, but the screens are basically the same (for fixing purposes at least). As long as you ignore the apple warranty stuff, there is some good stuff here.

il try this tmrw but off to sleep soon (thanks to the weather :)) , should I rub it with much pressure or just gently?

cheers

start gently then build up a good rhythm then really go at it hard and fast then ease off then hard and fast till its fixed or you collapse in a heap

I bought a Viewsonic LCD towards the end of last year that had 2 dead pixels. The reseller replaced it with no hassle at all I even asked them to test the new one in front of me before I left :)

Sorry, noticed i got beaten to it. Leaving my post here anyway!

It's all about the CPR. Conditonal Pixel Regeneration. (Har)

All the above methods are supposed to help. Sometimes though you get a pixel that has a problem with the electronics, not the liquid crystal.

Sometimes manufacturers change the wording of the warranty so you can get a replacement if the dead/misbehaving pixel is in an annoying place, like right in the middle of the screen.

If it's off to the side or bottom, then there's less chance you'll notice it during normal use. I know that once you've seen it for the first time, you'll always be checking for it...

Other thing you can do is get a soft cloth or something, hold it over the affected spot, then prod the dead pixel quite hard with your finger. As long as you don't go too hard, the cloth will protect against any direct damage, and hopefully revive the pixel. Again this one is about getting the liquid crystal to respond to the area, especially if its not getting to that one pixel.

unfortunately, all methods of trying to bring a misbehaving pixel back can aggrivate it and change it from a half dead pixel, to a completely dead one. Often your best choice is to leave it be. Sometimes they'll fix themselves over time!
