its probably the gpu
MSI HD 7970 Twin FrozR OC BE 3072MB GDDR5

i have taken it out, blew the dust out of the card, the pci slot on the mobo,re-seated it and checked all connections, still typing this like i have hulkovision, the cards not that old, installed it sep 13 and never had a problem till now,so whats the thinking, time to buy a new gpu ????
if so any suggestions?
i have antec 750W supply, i7 4770k no OC on cpu on a Gigabyte Z87X-OC Intel Z87 board

im heading to portugal on holiday for a week so will sort it when home ,im steeling myself for buying a new card, right after coming home, double whammy on the wallet
Any help is much appreciated
thanks in advance

No overclock on the gpu at all, just always been on stock, also I have checked the cables St both ends, all tight.
I'm not sure if card is still under warranty, probably not

Sounds like a pin in the cable not connecting or broken off or depending on the monitor it could be switched to another color mode like from RGB to YPbPR or similar. If i do that on my dell i get green screen like you are describing

this is what im getting ,i have tried all tips etc checked all cables, swapped monitors still all green, think my card is ****ed :(

i think its a 2yr warranty on the card, ill try that route first before i get another one

Wtf? That's weird, on the pic I posted it's green. Now I'm really bamboozled, I'm writing this msg on my phone and the screen shot is fine as I view it on my phone but on my pc it's green

tried another vga cable from older pc,no joy
i can now only try to replace the dvi to vga adapter and see if that solves it
off to portugal for a week in the morning so it can wait till i get back
