And no, strangely enough I don't think it is a stuck pixel.

I can put a red / white / grey / yellow / etc. background on and not see this green spec, but when the screen is black it's there.

I'm pretty sure it isn't a stuck pixel as I can make out the individual pixels and it seems to be between them (definitely smaller than a pixel) and only appears on black (and can make out slight discolouration with blue).

What do you guys think this is? A spec of dust? I'm really stuck here tbh and it's really bugging me even though is out of place and I can't even make it out when using the screen normally.

I have a 24" Hazro and it's only recently appeared, it's now the only imperfection and it's driving me mad!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like a stuck sub-pixel....LCD pixel defects fall into one of three types:

- Dead (always off) pixel
- Bright (always on) pixel
- Bright/dead sub-pixel

A sub-pixel being defective is not nearly as bad as a whole pixel but is still annoying.

Basically it occurs when either the red, green or blue colour that makes the pixel fails and is evident on certain backgrounds depending on the colour of the failure.

My Dell 2001FP has a green stuck sub-pixel towards the lower left and a red stuck sub-pixel towards the upper right but over time you tend not to notice these.

Have a look at this "how to fix site" but just be really careful because I did once crack a previous Dell 2001FP by pressing too hard: http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor

Try and download + run some software the rapidly changes the LCD's colours; this can sometimes "re-energise" the stuck pixel and make it work again.

It's a stuck sub-pixel. You'll only see it on a pure blue, red or black background (try the Eizo monitor test prog). I had one on my hazro down the bottom left-hand corner.

Sorry to bump an ancient thread but did you ever fix this? I've just bought a new 40" Samsung 1080P HDTV which I use for my monitor. It has exactly what you describe. I can send it back under the terms of the DSA but it will cost me about £22 in postage and quite a lot of hassle. So I'll most likely put up with it unless I can find a solution.

Have tried massaging it, tapping and warping my mind with those RGB acid trip videos but nothing's worked so far. :(
