Yeah but what if it's not that what is causing it. Maybe sumit else.

eliminate the cheapest possibilities first, DVI Lead, you said you can get it go by waggling the lead, so change the lead.

if it's your 5970, get in touch with amd about rma'ing it if it's still in warranty,
