He was the last man - it was a red card. That it ruins the game as a contest is irrelevant.
Hargreaves is right imo. If the players are adamant that there is a case of mistaken identity the ref or the fourth official should be able to consult video evidence.
Completely agree with the first part... Not the second. Where does it stop? Once you have technology used for that it will be used for more and more cases....the issue here shouldn't be about technology, it's about having competent referee's and assistants.
You shouldn't need technology to make that call today...
Mistaken identity is such an obvious one, though. It isn't like diving or bad tackles where there is almost always room for interpretation, where you need multiple viewings, where you'll never get a consensus etc. One look of the replay at the Gibbs/Ox incident or the one today and that would be it. More time is spent with players complaining about it to the ref that it would take for the fourth official to have a quick look at the replay.
