Arff arff Korea got boring so quick hop across the pond and im in Japan!

I dont mind telling you that I love Japan, I really want to come back here for a more substantial holiday.

I went to a castle today that had mega creaky floorboards so that ninjas couldnt sneak up on the shogun - I love that idea. Im going to have that in my house in case ninjas try and 'take me out"

People are slightly more intoverted that Korea but still very friendly and loads of people speak a little bit of english.

I know it sounds stupid but im getting annouyed with the caucasian nod - where white people will smile/nod/make conversation simply because I speak english! Its Japan not the middle of the jungle !!!!

Kyoto is AMAZING. Go to Kinkakuji and Ginkakuji. Can't remember which is which now but the gold one was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

The castle is really incredible. Those floorboards are called 'nightingale' something or other, and they still work! I loved every minute of my time in Kyoto.

Never said this before but:

TTIUWP :D

I'd love to go to Japan - that sounds awesome! Will have to do it one day, along with most of Africa and South America. Am in Chicago atm - so howdi OcUK from the Windy City!

Cheers Lamo!

<3 Kinkakuji. So very, very beautiful.

Do the 'philosopher's walk' in Kyoto if them cherry blossoms are out! Did mine in the height of summer so wasn't the best time or so they tell me :D

Japans awesome.
I spent 2 weeks in Tokyo on my bill a few or so ago.
Didnt get bored once and loved every minute of it.
:).

Been to both - the pc im using doesnt let me plug usb into so I cant upload any pics - plus I have no web hosting but thast beside the point. The golden palace was brathtaking - I dont thinkg its something I would want as in any other context its a little tacky.....but I love it.

Japan does not disapoint - it is without a doubt one of the nicest places I have ever visited. nest holiday will be based in and around Japan!

Peace out - got a LONG day ahead of me, hope all is well

Kyoto is a great city, didn't spend enough time there on my trip but there is a lot to see and do.

A lot of other nice cities are really close by as well.

There is a great Zen buddist place on the eastern outskirts which I really enjoyed. In August they burn symbols into the hillsides and I missed it by one day, I was very upset by this.

Have you been to the train station? Mrs Snail and I spent nearly two days there, it really is an amazing place (and not just for trainspotting). The view from the 13th floor walkway over the city is good.

If you get time go to Nara and see the world's largest wooden building. it is about 25 mins by train from Kyoto.

I want to live there, too. In some ways it seems kind of a utopia with hardly any crime and society getting along as one big group. Of course, that may be a blinkered view. I'm sure there are plenty of horror stories if one looked into it.

Hopefully will begin learning Japanese after I finished my A levels, and then possibly move to Japan after I finish my Animation degree :)

Btw Aloreth do you have any photos to show us?

Unfortuantely I never got around to arranging web hosting! Got a circular email going round with mates back home - most cool pictures are included in that, can forward that on if you wanna see what its like (awesome!)
