I'm lacking a good RTS game in my library. I haven't played this genre since red alert and command. And conquer.

I'm looking for one where you have to build a base and manage resources. I tried company of heros but didn't like it I like the old style were you have bases and stuff.

Grey goo looks like it has any one tried it ? An does any one have any other suggestions?

I thought Grey Goo was poor.

Ashes of the Singularity by Stardock could be one to keep an eye on especially if it's anything like Total Annilihation which they've said they're using as an influence. No idea when it will be released though.

Command and conquer generals, red alert 2, Starcraft 2, planetary annihilation, supreme commander series, total annihilation series, anno 2070, civilisation series, Earth 2150 series, perimeter to name a few. Do you like futuristic space type or more modern day/historic?

Grey Goo looks alright but multiplayer wise at least it seems to have just keeled over and died. Also there seem to be performance problems that the devs keep trying to patch but in the process just introduce other bugs and issues.

I think I'd hold fire on it until a sale.

Well COH does have resources and bases soooo...

Theres a free version of redalert/dune2 if you like the old ones.

Starcraft2 is probably the best at the moment.

Just looked up Grey Goo - might have to get that.

I was tempted by Grey Goo, almost bought it on Steam but read a few negative comments so figured I'd wait and see.

Any time or setting to be honest I loved generuls but also really like space stuff lol

Main thing is it should have a fairly active community online

It's fairly cheap on key sites already . however your comment on its MP has really put me off I don't play rts games for the single player :/

Act of Agression out in May looks interesting. I passed on Goo as it looked just to basic and lacking. I’d get bored really quick with it.

Grey Goo is more like Starcraft. It has a very low unit cap of 200 spaces, with some units costing more than one space - up to 70 spaces IIRC. C&C did not have this limit. When I read of the unit cap I immediately lost interest.

It appears that Ashes either has no unit cap or has a very high one. I emailed them to ask, and received the response, 'Some of the finer details will be worked out as the beta approaches.'

Supreme Commander and Planetary Annihilation are both good examples of the genre. I'm addicted to Homeworld Remastered at the moment, but it might not be your sort of game.
