Ok, No idea how to explain this but here goes..

Recently when I turn my PC on, instead of the monitor being nice and bright, its like a tinge of grey has overcome it.

The only way I've gotten rid of it is to reboot, and the vibrant colours come back.

I'm confident its not my GPU as its faily new (less than 7 months GTX 560 Ti) but the monitor (Samsung SyncMaster 931BW) is a good few years old.

On the latest nVidia drivers as well.

Any ideas?

Try a different cable. My old 15" TFT from a good few years back went pink and found out it was the cable; not the monitor. I nearly binned the monitor lol.

Could be the monitor also, try on a different machine or laptop if possible to see if it happens on them also.

Swap testing is silly, but has to be done to find out a problem.

Also, try rolling back the drivers to the previous version to see if it could be a driver problem (but doubtful with Nvidia drivers)
