Boring post alert.

I'm attaching a HOTAS (joystick and throttle) to a piece of MDF, to add some weight to it and make it more stable, and I need some rubber pads to affix to the bottom of the plank to stop it sliding around on the desk. I've bought a pack of non-slip furniture pads on the bay, but they're nowhere near tacky enough to stop any slippage. Does anyone have direct experience of a non-slip pad that you think would be suitable for this? Ideally that sort of tacky rubber. I don't want to buy again and waste any more cash. thanks peeps!

Have you tried roughing up the bottom of the pads with coarse sandpaper? It might take the slippy surface off and provide extra grip.

3M make these sorts of things if you want a reputable brand although if you're having to use a lot of force your only option may be to fix the joystick to the desk.

Might need some kind of clamps like racing wheels have. one either side clamping it to desk could work, easy to unclamp when not using.

I have not! I'll give that a go first and see how I get on.

If this is to do with Star Citizen then I don't imagine you're in any rush for a solution.
it's for Star Wars Squadrons. I'm fairly gentle with the stick and I don't get many problems with the stick just on the desk, but it would be nice if I didn't have to worry about the base lifting sometimes. A bit of extra weight and diameter to the base should do fine. I've got the MDF and screws already.

Thanks for your other suggestions!

That's a shame. I think the furniture pads rely on there being a decent amount of weight to get friction.

what, you mean it isn't about grippy rubber pants? ahhh man, typo!

tried sanding the existing pads but no joy. Onto the next option..

Have a look at the Dycem non-slip mats on Amazon. They aren't the cheapest, especially for large sizes but they are very good for grip. I got them for my son to stop his switches and xbox adaptive controller sliding on his perspex table a few years ago. I haven't tried the other brands but they may well be as good.
