Does anyone else here remember these games? I found both 1 and 2 up for sale on Steam for £6.99 the pair and I couldn't resist so I got them. I remember playing GC1 around 15 years ago and struggling like hell to get the framerate up to an acceptable level. It goes without saying that it plays real nice now so far (all barring any unpleasant surprises).
The highest res you can play at (without resorting to any hacks, etc to the game software) is 1024 x 768, yes, that low. I've had to use gpu scaling to get the screen into 4x3 aspect so everything looks "right".
I've cranked up every game setting to max, and in the radeon settings, I've overridden the game options and cranked up the AA, AF and texture options to smooth out the in game look which isn't too bad, if a little sparse to say the least.
Framerate seems locked at 60 fps, probably Vsync is on somewhere, but its all a bit academic as I don't think the fps will drop that much anyway.
Which just leaves gameplay, which it appears is just as much fun now as it was 15 years ago! theres something about not having to bother that it looks sparse and lacking in textures, etc, which means you can get more enjoyment out of the actual gameplay, which always was considered to be one of the best games in it's day.
And the nostalgia (for me anyway
) is great, make me think of my old pentium III, and ATI rage pro and struggling to get any where near decent framerate.
Anyways, I playing my way through this atm and hopefully will continue to do so for next few days at least.
