Wasn't sure where this should go, but anyway..
I've recently set my laptop up as an xbmc with a 22" TV, however I'm getting horizontal scan lines on screen and humming through the speakers. After some googling, I found this
http://mrgnome.wordpress.com/2009/06/12/external-monitor-flicker-laptop-ground-loop-problem-solved/
So I tried it out, after disconnecting the mains supply for my laptop, the problem went away.
The author of that article suggested wrapping insulation tape around the ground pin on the plug, my question is is that safe? As i understand, the ground is there for a reason
Thanks
