EDIT: not sure if some are sarcastic or ignorant, but to clarify Ground Zero is where the Twin Towers at World Trade Center in New York stood before 9/11

EDIT 2: the mosque is not on actual ground zero but near the site

you may be right and i agree with you that promoting dialogue is a good thing. I am just not sure that it would so close to the "wound" if you will allow that expression.

the problem is that these attacks were held in the name of Allah and having a Mosque there is like defecating on the tombs and shows contempt for those who died. thought it was pretty evident.
