Hello all

Just a quick question........iv got an anti static strap were is the best place to clip the crocodile clip....?? Some peeps say my case (on a metal part) i also hear that my psu has to be plugged in but NOT turned on is that right

Admittedly the last time i built a pc i didn't use a wrist strap i just built it on a table and kept touching my radiator.

Should i just clip the crocodile clip to the radiator???

Thanks guys

Personally i have taken a ground pin from the male part of a household plug. You can then attach the crocodile clip to the back of the pin. Put the pin in the top plug in your house, and your properly grounded. keep plug off to be safe but actually makes no difference. For god sakes dont put it in any other part of the socket!

Just don't be foolish and you won't have a problem
Build on a solid surface (not carpet), don't rub a ballon on your head etc.
I don't know anyone who has fried anything
Modern components are incredibly resilient so you won't have a problem

As above, I haven't used an anti-static strap for the past 10 years and have never fried anything since (I build about 2 PC's per week at work).

We should run a poll to see if anyone thinks they have killed something due to static but I never have. All I do it touch something that is grounded and get on with it
