Music Review Website Ideas

Hi, I am currently in the 3rd year of a Multimedia Technology programme at University and we are in the process of developing a music review website for our group project. The site will be indie music based.

We are hoping to gather some thoughts and ideas as to what people expect from a music review website and also what additional features you would like to have.

So to start off, do you visit any music review sites? Which sites do you visit and what do you think of them? Is there anything specific that you’d like to see on them?

I appreciate any feedback,

Steven

The #1 priority, like all websites, is content. Without good content, the site is of little worth against the slew of review sites existing on the web. It should be up to date, comprehensive and well written.

"Bells and whistles" features like polls, messageboards and galleries are of little importance to me against the quality of content. Having said that, being able to listen to streaming music samples, images and video relevant to the reviews is something I appreciate. Text alone can be very bland, and it helps to have something more instant to illustrate and reference against the writing.

I don't visit music review sites (anymore), just sites that sit somewhere between reference and opinion like allmusic, last.fm and gnoosic. All three of which are excellent.
