Hello guys
I have a pc from a work colleague, I think I got the problem but ran into another one. When I removed the heating the CPU went with it..:D and was stook fast to it. I didn't bent or break any pins, so win. However, I tried to put to remove between the best spreader and heatsink. When I removed the mode guess what happened.... yes some dropped off the nossel and went were the pins are. Typical.

Is this stuff conducive, its artic remover... if so I gotta let it dry off, I don't wanna risk a new mobo and the CPU.

You can guess what platform if the CPU got stuck to the cooler

Yes I did get them parted with a bit of gental
pursation

Okay I did bend a few when the CPU went with the heatsink :(

Just let it dry off for a while and it should be grand. I once had an issue where a cpu got stuck to the cooler base (athlon s939 4000 and stock cooler), quick blast with a hairdryer soon separated them.

it was stuck fast, couldn't even prey it off...so I used some thermal paste remover aimed at the spreader that worked only I got the cpu pins as well, left it to dry a bit and found out the CPU was useless anyway due to bent pins  yeah i did manage to get it off, the thermal remover softened up the paste a bit so I could gentally prey it off.

so I managed to get a X2...now I have Bios issues with the new board, althrough it does work, and I can;t get the bios for it....-.-

the mobo is a asus M2N68-AM SE2 which does not exist according to asus website.........>.<

did that to a socket 478 pentium 4 about a month ago whilst giving a pc a check over (cooler had literally an inch of dust wedged in it...). That what happens to 6 years of stock paste :/

I got it off by standing it upside down, pouring a tiny bit of pisco (had the highest alcohol content of any liquid in the entire house ... dont judge me.) onto the base of the heatsink, spread it around the edges of the cpu heatspreader cap (making sure it didnt get anywhere near the pin side), left it for 5 mins, and prized it off with a credit card.

well the thing is up and working now, althrough the mobo don't like the X2...... I can't seem to find a bios for it in fact I can't find the board at all...LOL

I ll be fair i got that stuff on both of them, first time was my bad shot and the second I had the CPU in a paper towel and it sort of socket to were the pins was, the PC is up and runing with it now, and its fine....apart from the annoying BIOS issue...I did leave to dry for 5-10 minutes

I'll always leave AMD based rigs running for a while before attempting to remove the cooler.
Lost count of how many times a stock cooler has pulled out a CPU...
Hairdrier and twist will always be needed as a backup for stuck AMDs. :D

Were you able to straighten out any of the bent pins AMG?

Always boot up the machine and run for 10 mins before closing down and removing the heatsink. and give a little twist when removing as the heat will have made the compound a bit softer...

Asus seem to be having an issue with the motherboard selection on their website. If you go to http://support.asus.com/download/ and type your board's model number in the search box to the top left, it will show your board.
