In Program Files everyone has these, but why?!

Microsoft Frontpage
Microsoft Movie Maker
MSN Gaming Zone

I downloaded that handy Unlocker tool from this thread, http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17622217 but after re-starting my PC stupid Windows has re-installed the files somehow? Why! I don't need them and two of them have nothing inside!!

I could just hide them, but then I'll still know that they are there.

Any help? :(

Thanks!

Unlocker is only to unlock files that can't be deleted because another process is using them. It cannot delete this folders. They are protected by Windows. If you delete these folders, Windows will restore them when you next reboot.

You can either nLite your copy of Windows and remove the files from the install so that they don't get installed or you can disable the SFC that protects these files. Try http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=xerox+netmeeting+xp&btnG=Search&meta= for more info on how to remove the folders.

I once found a really good site that gave instructions on getting rid of these folders through DOS but I can't find it.

Try this as well. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=delete+undeletable+folders+dos&btnG=Search&meta=

Hey thanks, I'll see if I can find anything on the searches. :)

Cheers!

If you do let me know. I got rid of them in nLite but it didn't work for other unrelated reasons so I'd like to get rid of them if possible.

I found a couple of things, but the folders still remain (but 0 bytes now). So I have just given up and hidden them. But I did find some cool things when searching through Google.

1. To remove NetMeeting.

Start > Run

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\WINDOWS\inf\msnetmtg.inf,NetMtg.Remove

Then just "Cancel" the File Protection Box that Windows puts up for you. ;)

2. To show hidden Windows Programs in Add/Remove Programs.

Search for "sysoc.inf" (it should be located in C:\Windows\inf)

Remove the word HIDE from any of the lines (but leave the comma's)

Then under Add/Remove Windows Components you have more options.

:)

But that's about all I could find.

Found this, thought it might help. If you haven't already, I'd recommend downloading nLite and playing around with it. You can easily remove Netmeeting and Windows Messenger.

I know what you mean. The page I found ages ago worked perfectly. Can't find the ruddy thing now I need it though.

Hope you enjoy nLite. It should be straight forward to use. If not search for nLite on the forums or go to the nLite forums at http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showforum=89 or www.nliteos.com for help.

You're telling me! I even had the brains to copy the text down and store it on my PC for future reference. Can't find that either.

Think the best option is to use nLite. Take out the folders you don't need by either selecting them if nLite lists them or to list all the files within the folder (make sure you check for hidden files as well!!) and then add them to the Remove files. Let me know if you need a screeny to show the last bit.
