Hi fellas.

I am trying to install VMware EXS 4 FROM a USB stick onto a server.

I have created a bootable USB stick with the VMware image, however, midway through the installation process, it still asks for a CD-ROM.

Have I missed something out? Do I need to edit a config file somewhere to tell it to look for its files on the USB stick?

Any help would be muchos appreciated, as I am stumped.

Ha!!

Sorted it...

For anyone thats interested, you create a bootable USB stick from the VMware ISO, then when it boots, you press tab at the initial menu, which allows you to enter extra commands at the command line for the menu options on screen.

I simply typed "askmedia" to append it to the end of one of the lines, and lo and behold, during install it asked me where the ESX installation files were!

Gave me the choice of FTP, HTTP, CD, or USB.

Job done.
