As much as I love hot days, my computers hate it. Both are in the loft and both are overheating. I have every fan up full blast and my x2 (which is only clocked by 100mhz) has got so hot I've had to suspend work on one of it's cores just to keep it below its heat threshold! Luckily my xeon is still about 5-10 degrees below its threashold atm. I'm dreading the next few days as its supposed to get even hotter and i may end up having to stop crunching altogether. :( Anyone else having problems?

P.S. I hate all you rich ******* with your air conditioned rooms! ;)

My rig's got no chance with this heat; got home from work today and within 10 seconds of being upstairs I heard the temperature alarm wailing away. Even though it's in a large-ish, North-facing room with two windows permanently wide open it still overheats, so folding has had to stop on it for the time being. I mean, it's hitting 75+ at the moment, and that's with a decent heatsink and fan, two case fans on full blast and one side panel taken off :(

The Barton in the loft has hit 57C at some point (probably earlier today) but is now sitting at 55C - the average for the last 10 days was 44C so that just shows how much hotter it has got today

The XP1700 won't let me connect to see the temperature :o
However FahMon says it's still crunching and maintaining its normal (albeit carp :o) ppd for the current WU so I won't worry too much for now.

I'm going to be getting my laptop out in a minute as i'm at risk of frying a harddisk.
Room temp is at 35, thats normally my case temp.

Your hard disk is a WDC WD740GD-00FLA2 with firmware 31.08F31.
The average temperature for this hard disk is 33C (MIN=22C MAX=44C) and yours is 48C.
Thats as a result of putting it in an airtight noiseless enclosure... time to shop for a better one i think. Luckily these things have 5 year warranties and are designed to sit in hot servers so it should be ok for now.

Aaaarghh!! I hate my rigs doing nowt! So am now folding on one core just to see how it goes - seems to be alright so far :) - though if temps become an issue again then I'll be reverting to not folding at all, as per my previous post.

Well my 3800X2 (oced to 2200 Mhz) doesn't seem to be doing too badly... it's 30C here in the room atm, and the CPU is 59C - I've never seen it get over 61 or so. The fan does spin awfully fast when it's hot like this though, 5000+ rpms sometimes!!

I wish my room was 35 during the day, it was closer to 45 earlier, :( I actually went outside to cool down. :p

Now its cooled down a bit I've managed to run both cores again, I dont see it lasting too long though, I think i'll have to cut it again tomorrow and then the day after too.

Oh my god!

I have been out most of the day and kept mostly cool, I got in not long ago and downstairs is reasonably cool. As I came up the stairs I felt the temp go up, when I got to the top of the stairs, facing my room I felt a blast of heat.

My room is absolutely baking with my PC on 24/7. Last couple of nights I have had my PC switched off, so my output has already suffered. It looks like I will only be a day time cruncher until colder weather comes along.

I've just knocked 8c off my opty's temp, it was at 63c with a zalman CNPS7700. They are a complete arse for collecting dust so I turned it o** and cleaned out the carpet that had formed in there and hey presto, 55c:)

Room temp is 30c at 1:00 in the morning:(

My laptop is suffering pretty bad with the heat here in LA so I've stuck it on top of the AC unit so it can keep crunching :) My crunchers back home all have case temps about 45C so it must be damned hot there too :(

My laptop is on top of the A/C unit cause thats the only spot that isn't taken up by PC's :D

The whole house is about 25°C (This house always seems to stay cool no matter what temp it is outside :D) The computer room is also 25°C but thats cause of the A/C, I dare not turn it off for more than 2 minutes.

All my PC's are in the air conditioned room except one, which is a P4 2.5Ghz. Currently at 44°c but thats with the stock cooler and a really rubbish 120mm exhaust fan, (It's all very well not being able to hear it but it would also be good if it met the design requirements by moving a little bit of air)

I think I'm going to invest in a better cooler, some high speed fans and a fan controller, that way when the PC is just left on all the time like at the moment I can have the fans up high and noisy as no ones in the room.

I know 44°C isn't very hot but seeing as it would be so easy to make it cooler, why not? At least it'll prolong it's life, and if I can find a hacked BIOS I could OC it a bit :)

On with the fold and up with the heat! (It's going to be getting hotter over the next 2 days)
