grrrr , copying files .... windows 7 annoyance :(

Hi Folks,
Maybe someone can help me.
Sometimes when I copy a file onto my desktop it appears it didn't copy (but it did) ,
it is just been copied off screen so that I cannot see it.
The way to make it visible to to allow windows to auto arrange icons and there it is.
I dont want to have auto arrange on , because I like to put the icons
where I want them , not where windows thinks is best.

Does anyone know of a fix to stop this annoying behaviour

I have seen the same at times, but it isn't off the screen. Just not on it. Close windows or even go to sleep and restart and it appears. It seems sometimes it just doesn't update the display for some reason.

Does F5 (or right click, refresh) make it appear?

Yeh I see this now and again, it can be a gfx driver bug. Just hit F5 and it should appear.

Sadly I could press F5 from now till kingdom come and still no icon

Do you see it when you browse to....

C:\Users\xxxx\Desktop.....?

xxxx = Your username.

When this used to happen to me I found that it was "there" but just not showing on the desktop. IIRC it was the NVidia driver change that fixed it, eventually.

Yeah , the files are there just not on screen (on desktop)
