They haven't processed Mazda request for my new(ish) cars reg to be released. Previous owner had a private plate :( Was hoping i'd get my car for the weekend. Do you think they might rush it through if I phoned them? More likely put it to the bottom of next weeks q :D

I lost my rag with my local DVLA office over registering my kit car - I got a call an hour later to say it was all sorted and I could go down and pick the docs up anytime.

So yes it does work. However I got a reg plate that ended in DCK. A freind to did the same thing got a plate ending in CNT!

Good to see you local DVLA have a sense of humor!

That must have been a while ago as DVLA have CNT on their "banned list" as of late 2007.

I've had the same problem with the subaru Legacy I bought last week. Turned out the v5 had gone back to the DVLA to swap from personalised plate and it's only jsut turned up today..........in Matlock!?

Hopefully I'll get the car tomorrow for my camping/mtn Bike race on the weekend :)

The car I'm wanting to buy had a private plate on it, and I'm waiting for all the relevant docs such as the original plate, and the V5 to come back.

Hoping it wont take too long - surely it can't be that hard a job for them to process this sort of thing!

I'm in the same situation, paperwork was sent off about a week ago to transfer off a private plate back to the original. So previous owner still has the car till the documents arrive.

I hate the waiting!!!! :(

The waiting is always the hardest bit :D Thankfully my new car had been through the process and I didnt need to wait at all. It will be in your grubby mitts before you know it!

Is there anything you can do to speed up the process? I don't know if I'll last another week or more (is that to be expected??)

If the Prelude sells I'll be forced to get the 306 back on the road....!

When my girlfriend got her new car it took around 2 weeks for the DVLA to transfer the private plate off the car. During this time it was just sat at the dealers :(

What do you expect though, it is a government department!

Did you buy it from ScoobyClinic by any chance?

Well I rang them up to double check and they said that it would be 7-10 working days till the private plate was put on retention and paperwork was done for that and then a further 2-4 weeks  for the replacement log book to be issued!!!!!

*cries*

:(
