Grrrr! New windows in Internet Explorer

May I firstly ask that people replying to this thread do not comment on the following:

- Use Firefox
- Use Mozilla
- Use any other browser!
- Manually enlarge the window then refresh and go file, close (this does not truly maximise the window)

I like IE6 in every other way but this way.

Problem: when you click a link within a web page the new web page is not self-maximised, only enlarged as previous sizes.

Anyone know how to do this without using another program? I'm very anal abot this and I want new windows to maximise without having to click the box at the top right!

Praise be to anyone can that give me an answer!!!

i think if you press f11 that maxes it but thats proberbly not what you want

Thanks David but you are right, that's not quite what I mean.

Two problems with that:

- you have to press F11 (yes I'm a lazy b@st*rd)
- the window goes funny if you press F11 i.e. the bar at the top disappears

Well with your stiff lip wants and don't wants there really is no other option unless you move to IE7 which has tabs or use Firefox really to be honest.

If you are viewing a webpage in a normal sized window in IE new windows will open in the new window which is the same size as the previous window, if you maximise the existing window and then click a link the new window will open maximised, you can't change this behaviour unless you use another browser.

Thanks for your helpful comments on my stiff lips. Perhaps you should try and promote a friendly atmosphere on here as a mod rather than a confrontational one?

I will look into IE7 so thank you for your helpful suggestion, though you still suggested Firefox despite my original post.

Yes...except he's not a mod. And if you can't be bothered to click one button to maximise a window then why bother moaning when someone trys to help you?

I'm sure if you hold down the Shift button while resizing/maximising a window, it remembers that for next time.

Are you saying just cause I want auto-maximised windows I should put up with that kind of attitude? I disagree with you "lil old me".

It doesn't MAXIMISE it, it just leaves it as big as it was last time (not maximised).

Anyway to complete this story I downloaded IE7 and am using it now, I like it very much. So thank you for the helpful aspect of your post mrk it was much appreciated.

Damn, and i thought i was grumpy... but your just plainly unpleasant. nobody in this thread seems to have an attitude apart from yourself, everyone who has contributed to this thread has done nothing but give you the information youve asked for.

mrk was mearly being light hearted with the reference to your stiff lips due to the fact that you admitted your quite anal about this situation...

in any case, should you find that you dont like IE7, try this website for answers to windows annoyances...

its got tips on how to overcome all the stupid issues regarding windows and IE and chances are there may be some things of interest in there for you.

I use attitude only in response to attitude!

try creating a new windows user account and see if that has the problem too
