Grrrrrr @ Valve

I yearn for another game to make me feel like I did when I first played Half Life 2... It was such an experience. I think I would have preferred it if Portal had just remained as its own single entity, with no sequel. I think history would have been kinder to it if it were just that, but on the other hand, I'm sure that Portal 2 will be absolutely awesome. :D

I share other people's agony, I want to yield that crowbar one last time.

Last time I played through them all I was the same, leaving the ending like that for so long, why do it and why keep us in the dark, surely they can just say its either coming or its not, its the silence on the issue thats the most frustrating thing about it all, if its not coming i'd rather they just put me out of my misery and say so

No game has ever given that same experiance as HL2, games have entertained just as well in different ways but HL2 is an experiance in its own right that nothig else will ever come close to

I think there is a very real risk of Matrix syndrome with HL the first and OF were good the second slightly went off in terms of story and the third may end up destroying the goodwill that valve had. That G-man crap that they pretty much retconned in the episodes and the fact that valve are getting older makes a truly ground breaking 3 damn unlikely ymmv.

I put that in google translate in the hope I'd make sense of it, still failed.

because a vague hope of a release date within your lifespan is better than next year....sorry year later....no we decide to change something 3 more months....

Have they ever said there would be an episode 3? or was it just "the next installment" which would likely mean HL3?

Valve's release times look good compared to the black mesa team. They should just release it without bothering with zen.

When HL2 was released Valve were about:

Half-Life
Counter-Strike Source
Steam

Now they are about:

Steam
Half-Life
Left 4 Dead
Portal
Team Fortress 2
Counter-Strike Source

Things have changed ;)

Don't forget they ported loads of games to the Mac too.

Ep3 and HL3 would get me back in to PC gaming. HL is, imo, the greatest PC game ever.

Mon sentements exactement.

It used to annoy me how long Valve took to make a game but after suffereing the last few weeks with the shameful brokeness that is Call of Duty: Black Ops (released in time for Christmas but not actually working properly) I'll wait 'til Valve are good and ready.

Strangely, the older I get (and the left time I have) the more patient I become. Quality above all else.

They are working on this that's for a fact, maybe its taking long time because they are aiming for 20+ hours of game play + story.

Don't forget about CS2 and Portal2.

Tha main issue with folks aying move straight to HL3, is that episode 2 left us on a cliffhanger, where basically one has to go and destroy a ship.

If the make HL3 all based on the destruction of a ship 'we should never use Gordon!' then it wastes an entire game on one task. If it starts with that task, then we know everything branches from it.

I want HL3 to be another wake up with the g-man inserting us into a completely fresh event/time/etc and us getting down and dirty with a whole load of action.

the first and OpposingForce were good, but the second slightly went off in terms of story and the third may end up destroying the goodwill that valve had.

something like that, Still a bit hardwork.

I also disagree, I think HL went from strength to strength, however the First truely blew me away.

Its been how many years since Valve even mentioned half life at all let aloan episode 3, I rather they come out and say that that there be no more half life rather than the silent death its had.

Looking and how well L4D has done and how good a reception Portal has had they hardly need to spend the time or money on Half life when they can knock out new L4D or portal more quickly and probably get as many sales, and then there's the micro transaction for TF2.

Very cynical I know and I hope I'm wrong but the more and more time we hear not a god dam thing half life related the more I think they have abandoned it. All very annoying considering the cliff hanger at the end of Ep2
