I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10, alongside W7. They are installed on separate disks.
Problem is the Grub loader is very slow to bring up the options menu. On my old system I had XP and an older version of Ubuntu installed and it must have used a different Boot Loader. I dont know which one/version, but there was virtually no loading involved, just a quick two item selection and the OS selection timer could be set in BIOS.
I have configured the GRUB menu file to select W7 as default and reduce Timeout, but this does not affect the actual loading time of Grub itself.
Does anyone recognise the bootloader I am talking about? Or do you have any recommendations of different Bootloaders or things I can try to get the load time reduce?
