GSC Game World has reportedly shut and canned development of STALKER 2.
News of the studio's closure first broke on Ukrainian news site UkraNews, which said owner Sergei Grigorovich had informed staff earlier this afternoon.
According to Rock Paper Shotgun, GSC initially denied the report via Twitter before deleting its denial.
The studio declined to comment when contacted by RPS, but things don't sound good.
Initially set for release in 2012, STALKER 2 was set to be the first game in the series to launch on consoles, although GSC said earlier this year that it was being developed primarily for PC.
The game was said to have more of a "survival element" than its predecessors and take place "in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2, containing more of the haunted X Labs and spooky underground bunkers from the first games".
