Hi folks,

Now found what I believe is the source of the problem (been building a new PC AM2 based). It seems the GSkill memory I purchased from overclockers is for Intel boards only. Seems to be a SPD programming problem according to other forums. So you don't make the same mistake the memory in question is ......

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 ZX PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400PHU2-2GBZX) (MY-011-GS)

Checking with the GSkill website confirms this. Anyhow have contacted oc for a return/refund and will order something that will work with this damn board!!!! I assume the GSkill HZ works fine on AM2????

Would like some advice on some good performance memory around PC6400 4-4-4-12. No more than 200quid. Advice appreciated. MUST WORK WITH MY ASUS M2N32SLI motherboard.

Hopefully oc will sort me out being as there was no indication of it being for intel only boards in it's item description.

Looks like buying DDR2 memory ain't as simple as it seems!!!

You should have checked on the G.Skill site before you bought that RAM :p

I'd recommend G.Skill 6400 HZ sold on here. The ZX is inferior value RAM. I dont know why it's priced the same as the HZ. Anyway the HZ is wayyyy better for overclocking too, because as far as i know it uses the same chips as the G.Skill HZ 8000 RAM. People are getting it over 1000mhz easy, and it will also do tighter timings at defalt speed than the ones listed.

I'm almost positive it works with non-intel platforms but would be a good idea to make sure first.

Spec say: HZ:4-4-4-4-12 , ZX:4-4-4-4-12

ZX faster?
